Award season has finally rose to its peak with the annual Oscar Awards being the highlight of the season. The biggest event in the film industry swarmed with the hottest stars that were bound to only serve up the latest and most enviable makeup and hair looks! Not to mention men’s hair and facial hair styles.
Red, Romantic Lips
Red lips were a favourite amongst several actresses and models. The nuance is not only a safe beauty staple, but also brings that little bit of extra out of any designer gown or hair accessory. Classic red shades were worn by classic bombshells as Nicole Kidman, Emma Roberts and Kirsten Dunst, while a deeper brown-red shade complemented Emma Stone’s and Ruth Negga’s soft and feminine appearances. Brie Larson and Karlie Kloss on the other hand, stood out wearing popping, orange-red lipsticks that could make anyone long for summer 2017 to hurry up.
A Diverse Set of Smoky Eyes
A big event like that called for the never-failing smoky eye. This festive eye makeup came in all types of eye shadows, nuances and intensities, being subtle as on Chrissy Teigen, intense as on Octavia Spencer, metallic as on Janelle Monae, or playful and flirty in a lavender shade as seen on Olivia Culpo.
As expected, celebrity hair stylists went over the top to transform stars’ already glossy hair looks and turn them into fabulous red-carpet ready waves within hours. Halle Berry’s bouncy curls were so perfectly textured that they easily caused major hair-envy, and Priyanka Chopra’s sleek hair looked even sleeker than usual (if that’s even possible) and was combed in a precise side part. Taraji P. Henson’s fierce, yet whimsical bob was inspired by Diahann Carroll, and was a perfect modern twist on old Hollywood glamour, said her hair stylist, Tymothe Wallace. Another take on the bob was seen on Viola Davis, in shape of a deep side part and crispy caramel highlights. And the most daring ones? Leave that to Scarlett Johansson’s pixie cut and Charlize Theron’s voluminous, 20’s inspired pulled back waves.
Men’s Hair and Beard Styles
In contrast to Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey character’s shaved face and short hair, he let his beard grow bushier and sported a noticeably shorter haircut. Justin Timberlake also cut his hair shorter, but in a sharp military buzz cut style that went hand in hand with his semi-polished beard. Speaking of facial hair, Chris Evans’ perfectly trimmed and maintained beard could have won a price for best grooming, paired with his elegant, slicked back hair style. And when it came down to subtle grooming, Ryan Gosling’s pretty boy haircut and a few days’ stubble were discrete-looking and dapper, while Mahershala Ali looked dashing with a subtle moustache and army buzz cut.
