This year, nail trends go from bold and extreme to simple with a twist, meaning it’s practically suitable for just anyone! All kinds of nail shapes, designs and colours can be seen! From striking metallics to clean nudes in almond, round and squared shapes, there is no doubt you will find a nail trend that is cut out just for you.
Chrome nails have been a hot topic during the holidays! (Seems obvious when we think about the gone New Year’s Eve). Just like metallic shades are used for sparkling makeup looks, chrome nails are used for a similar purpose; which is why there is no need for jewellery when this dazzling nail art will primp up your look! They are indeed alluring and best fit for parties and other night time events.
Some suggested colours:
- Essie No Place Like Chrome
- Dior Metallic Montaigne 803
Clean and Simple
Out with the old, in with the new! This season, nails are mostly worn short and simple. Long and colourful nails are a bit last year even though many celebrities still wear them. (A justified reason to why they are not considered fashion icons!) A simple and clean manicure demonstrates a nice care with a touch of charm and is appropriate for everyday use. They also add an elegant feel to any look.
In terms of shades, they all make the cut but it can vary from the classical nail colours; being red, burgundy and navy blue or light pastels such as baby pink, blue or nude.
Some recommended shades are:
- OPI It´s A Boy!
- Essie 1 A Master Plan
- Dior Vernis Trianon 306
Tip: It is recommended to wear your nails polish-free between manicures as it is good to let the nail breathe in order to restore itself.
To give a glimpse of what is to come, defined lines and geometric figures are the next trend! In other words; simple nails with a decoration. For instance, geometric designs such as fine lines give the manicure another side to them. This style is open for a lot of creativity as more than two colours can be used to get different looks. It can be inspired from a traditional French manicure, using two different colours, or it may be created in various shapes for a neat twist or painted in a colourful horizontal art crossing the nail.
You are also free to decide on different colour combinations, for example:
- All light and pale colours
- A combination of light and dark or even metallic
- Only dark and metallic colours
Get your creativity flowing with these inspirational designs:
- Negative Space Nail Art
- Stripes, Stripes, Stripes!
- Coloured Moons
